It's Thursday... You Know What That Means...

Thursday has rolled around again and you know what that means...
The Total Fitness Bodybuilding Talk Show is tonight!

I really enjoy doing these shows and helping you along in your journey towards building a leaner more muscular physique. Since I started doing these shows I've gotten a ton of feedback from viewers like you, thankfully most of it has been positive.

However, the biggest complaint that I get is from people who live in different parts of the world who can't make our 9:00 pm EST shows and they never get a chance to have their questions answered on the show.

So what I'm going to do tonight is let you submit your questions in advance. This way even if you can't make the live show you can watch the replay the next day and have your questions answered.

So if you have a question or topic that you would like to have discussed on the talk show just post it here as a comment to this blog post below, and later tonight I'll answer your questions

Again the live show starts at 9:00 pm EST at: http://www.LeeHayward.com/tv

  3. Hey Lee. Im currently completing my cert 4 in fitness and have gained alot of knowledge thru your work. I weigh in at 160Lbs(5'8"), and am looking at gaining another 15-20Lbs. Ive put on 11Lbs in 5wks by increasing my calorie intake to round 4000cal/day and cutting my cardio. This is not something that can be maintained easily. Can you possibly give me anymore tips?

  7. Hi lee,I'm from the uk and been training around 4 years now.I've recently just moved to japan and joined the best gym I could for lifting, which still has alot to be desired.the dumpbells only go up to 30 kgs and I'm used to dumpbell pressing 50 kg for sets.is there a way of still getting a kickass strength and muscle building workout with these lighter weights? I've been doing single handed presses, using only one hnd means I'm not balanced so have to work really hard to do a gd set.what do you think?keep up the good work man.joe from Manchester, 21.

  11. Hey Lee. Thanks for great training-inspiration.
I´m a 30 y.o. man and I´m very fond of lifting weights. I´ve studied some of your exercise-tips and their now a important part of my routines. My problem though is my overload of stubborn ugly bodyfat, especially around the stumack. My question: What and when is the best way of burning fat, is it fast walking/jogging in the morning before breakfast, or direct after a weight-routine before intake of supplements?

Thanks so much, I really want to stop having to test out every method that I see on the internet, your feedback would be muchly appreciated.

I put muscle on very easily should I be lifting heavy at the beginning of the contest and then a couple weeks before go lighter? i guess my question is what is the best way to lean out right before the contest?

  24. Lee, what is the key to getting ripped? is it eat alot, lift heavy, be bulky and then shred the fat through cardio? or is it possible to gain weight and ripped the same time through proper dieting and lifting? Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hi Lee,

I am a real hard gainer. 5 foot 10 inches and 117 pounds, 53 years old. I have been the same weight for about 33 years. I have lifted regularly since I was about 20 years old and have never had any real gains. I have eaten like crazy (eggs and chickened to death) lifted to exhaustion in several different programs and do very little arobics. I have seen so many before and great afters in advertising to promote products and programs and have noticed that they all have basic good builds and proportions under what looks like a little more wieght than they should have. So they lose the wieght, tone up and whala. Great after picture! Well my question is this: Is there really any hope for me at my age and after working at it for so long to be able to add pounds of noticable muscle on my skinny structure? I am always optomistic and that keeps me going. (I did see a skinny guy once in an advertisment gain quite a bit of wieght but later found that his skinny phase was right after chemotherope so he really just gained back what he was before.) Is it still possible for me to gain more muscle?

Thanks for your program. I like listening to it! You are very honest.

  30. My name is Brad. I am a 45 year old blind individual. I have worked out in the past, pretty vigorous workouts in my early 30's. I have been shamefully lazy for a dozen years and committed to changing my lifestyle, health and energy. I would like to work out using a dumbbell work out at home with little to no other training equipment with acception of a lat pull down. Is it possible to have a successful and complete dumbbell workout to bulk me up again and maintain? I am just shy of 200 pounds and six foot, not hefty but not in shape either, I would like to achieve 200 pounds with reasonable body fat measurements.

  34. Hi Lee
I started my back workout with dumbbell rows so thought my arms would be warmed up enough for my next exercise, pull ups. When i pulled up i felt a twinging sensation in my bicep. A day or so later i noticed purple marks/blotches on the inside of my bicep, it looks like burst veins but i feel no pain. I iced it and i'm not taking a week off but the marks are still there.
What do u think it is?
Should i begin training after my week off if the marks are still there?

  41. Hey Lee, first off are there and any long term side effects/consequences of lifting heavy (i.e muscle damage or tissue damage, or even authritus) and having a thick muscular build for the majority of your life time (like YOU)? Secondly, to put on lean muscle without a whole lot of fat being store/put on do you just eat the comporable amout of food needed for your needs meaning calories? Thanks.

  44. Hi Lee,

I was wondering if there are any ways to keep bodyfat low while bulking besides eating clean? I was also wondering about your view of carbs before bed and how to boost testosterone naturally. Lastly do you think eating organic foods is important and if so which foods are most important that you eat the organic version?

    thanks, karl

  49. Hi Lee, how many reps would you do for bench pressing. The other day I started off with incline bench presses and I did 4 sets of 12-15 reps quite easily. Then I did flat bench presses. I was aiming for the same number of sets and reps, but my chest simply could not handle it - it was fatigued already. How could I perform more reps etc. Any tips?

  51. Hey Lee, pleaseeeee read this out and give your opinion on it, it would be much appreciated.

I am 15, and this is my typical meal plan for a day ...

Breakfast: Porridge, 2 eggs on 2 pieces of toast, pineapple, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, banana.

Lunch (at school): Tomato Pasta / Jacket Potato + beans (something of that nature).

Snack (at home): Pasta + whole can of tuna.

    After workout: Protein shake, nuts.

    Dinner: Mackeral, egg noodles.

Whats your opinion, what should I try and do to my meal plan to get maximum benefit out of my training? Also, as you can see I don't seem to get much protein at school simply because of the limited choice in the canteen. What would you suggest without having to bring a lot from home?

I'm always looking at myself in the mirror numerous times a day, I'm always conscious about wearing vests etc cause sometimes I feel like I'm skinny, sometimes I look in the mirror & think I look small, other times I think I'm massive, it drives me nuts all the time & really gets me down if I think I look small, I also go crazy about my lagging body parts etc & my left side is smaller than my right side which also gets me down like hell, it pretty much controls my life at times, so can you help me with this PLEASE I need to know what's going on. I am eating healthy and using a protein powder. I have to eat an enormous amount of food to gain weight. The problem is that when my body weight goes up so does my cholesterol. I am currently on a prescription medication to lower my cholesterol. It’s helping, but Lee, do you have any suggestions on what I can do to accomplish my goal?

I am doing work daily about 7-8 hours and then i go to gym at night. the problem is that i get fatigue from my work and due to it i cant apply my whole energy during work out. if i try to get energy from the food it inflate my stomach. I take protien powder of (Balance muscle technology- ion exchange protien WPI). it helps me but not that much. On the next day i feel laziness even after getting 9-10 hours sleep. I want that powder or some diet which help me long after my daily routine work so i can get good result during work out. another thing is i want to get some bulk on some particular part of body like on shoulders and on arms. if i will try some other powder like 50-50 protien carbohydrate it start collecting around my waist faster then my other part of body. i do lower abs exercise daily in the morning to keep my muscles tighten. In the nut shell i want bulk or mass on some parts without increasing my waist length, some sort of powder or combination of two, whcih help me durig work out after my daily work, or some diets which give me enough energy to boost my self during work out. last thing is, the only product which i get from animals is only milk or its subsitutes and i cant get another product from animals by harming them.
