Awesome Abdominal Exercise Decline Barbell Sit Ups

This is an great weighted ab exercise that will work the entire mid-section. Decline bench sit ups are one of my favourite abdominal movements and this is an advanced variation of the decline bench sit up.

  1. Its a great exercise for advanced "students".


  2. I am just wondering...instead of holding a barbell could this exercise be done effectively by holding a plate over your chest as you do the situps? If so, is it best to let the plate rest on your chest and just hold it in place, or should you hold it about 12 inches off your chest?

  3. Id say its probably a bit safer to use the plate, but the barbell could give a real intense workout, especially if you try and hold the barbell out over your head a bit.
